Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process / Policy

Aquamarine Fisheries Journal recognizes that the peer review process is essential to ensuring the publication of high-quality scientific research. The integrity and scientific standards of this journal rely heavily on the expertise and dedication of our reviewers, who are selected by the Editorial Board.

Initial Evaluation

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the Handling Editor. At this stage, the editor assesses:

  • Relevance to the journal's aims and scope
  • Originality of the work
  • Potential scientific contribution

Similarity checks are conducted using Turnitin to ensure originality. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic criteria or exhibit serious flaws may be rejected without external review. This initial screening is typically completed within 1 week of submission.

Peer Review Model

Aquamarine Fisheries Journal employs a double-blind peer review process, in which both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous throughout the review. This model helps ensure objectivity and fairness in the evaluation of the manuscript.

In certain time-sensitive cases (for example, related to publication scheduling), the Handling Editor may also conduct an editorial review.

Reviewer Selection and Timeline

The Handling Editor selects reviewers based on their subject-matter expertise relevant to the manuscript. Typically, two independent reviewers are invited to evaluate each submission.

If suitable reviewers cannot be secured within 6 weeks, the Handling Editor may proceed with an editorial evaluation or act as a sole reviewer when appropriate, and make a decision on the manuscript.

Revision Process

Authors will receive the peer review reports along with the editorial decision. Reviewer comments may be shared verbatim, and authors are expected to:

  • Prepare a point-by-point response (rebuttal) to the reviewers’ comments
  • Submit a revised manuscript

The usual deadline for submitting revisions is 2 weeks from the date of the decision letter, unless otherwise specified.

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the authors’ response to the revisions, the Editor makes the final decision regarding:

  • Acceptance
  • Further revision
  • Rejection

The editorial decision is final.

Publication Frequency

Aquamarine Fisheries Journal is published three times a year, in:

  • January
  • May
  • October

Each issue features high-quality research articles in marine and fisheries sciences.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
